Sharp AQUOS LC46LE700UN 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Like D. Bortranger's earlier review I also hooked up a watt meter ( UPM model EM100 ) and received roughly the same
results. Power saving off - 98 watts but the picture highlights were overly bright to me.

Standard power saving used around 80 watts, picture was dimmed slightly bringing down the highlights to a proper level
by my eye.

Advanced power saving (OPC) on standard settings ( min range -16 max range +8 functional setting) was 50 watts,
but the picture was too dark, so I increased the min range ( min range -8 max range +8 functional setting) which
brought the brightness up to an acceptable level for a dark room and the power usage up to only 60 watts! )

Now I just toggle between Standard and Advanced Power Saving depending on the room brightness.

I bought this Sharp model over their latest version (LC46LE810UN) because the new model is edge lit rather than a back lit LED array, and it has fewer component or S-video inputs than the LE700UN, plus of course the lower price since the
LE700UN is an outgoing model.

"Experts" can argue whether this or that brand / model has a superior picture because of "X" feature, I'm ecstatic
with this model because I have a big screen TV with a great picture that runs on less power than a typical light bulb,
and it's made by Sharp, whom I've had a great track record with ( both of my previous Sharp 27 inch TV's lasted more than
10 years without a single problem ). In my opinion, if anybody can build a bulletproof TV that will last, Sharp can.

We bought this TV about, 9 Months ago from another site at a fantastic price. I could not be happier with it. People often think that Samsung is the ONLY way to go when purchasing flatscreens but that is so far from reality. The picture on this tv is fantastic, hands down. We have a good friend that has an identically sized samsung with similar technology and it has an inferior picture. If you buy this sharp, go online and search for the optimal settings (CNET i think) for this tv and go through them and tune it up, makes a big difference. Oh, and I don't hear a thing but the program im watching while this tv is on, no hum, buzz or anything.

If you can, hook up an external sound system, the one on the tv is not adequate for most uses. If you give less of a rating for this however you shouldn't, these tv's are not designed with sound in mind!!!

The blu-ray picture is stunning, rent or buy Planet Earth in blu-ray and your jaw will drop.

The picture clarity and quality is a bit unnerving right out of the box. I've watched High Definition LCD TV's, but the LED version is the way to go if you really want amazing picture quality. Watching Blu-Ray movies on it gives you an incredible sense of picture depth...almost 3-D like on non 3-D movies. I don't have cable or dish programming, but even the broadcast signal comes across fantastic. I hope to enjoy this TV for many years to come. The only downside I've discovered so far is the price.

LG 47LD520 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV Excellent product from LG. Ordering was easy, the delivery company was efficient, courteous, and professional. I've now been using this TV for a little over a month now, and have had no issues with it at all.
120Hz - The 120Hz feature, while not necessarily revolutionary, is still a nice evolution of display technology, although with two drawbacks that I've noticed with my short time using this feature. First, it took time for my eyes to adjust to the smoothing effect - older black and white videos appeared almost too smooth, while other more recently produced programs appear to have little difference between 120Hz and normal viewing modes. Second, when filling in blank frames to achieve the smoothing effect, the TV will occasionally "guess" wrong and the frame may distort slightly for an extremely brief moment (so brief I only notice it very rarely). As far as I can tell this is a natural drawback of the 120Hz effect, but occurs so infrequently as to be a very minor complaint. 120Hz can also be turned off
Stand - The display stand works well, with the left/right pivot feature being a nice bonus.
Sound - The TV's built in speakers work quite well, with above average sound quality and a nice range of volume.
Ports - A good range of ports with an extra HDMI, standard video, and USB on the side of the TV for extra convenience.
Picture Quality - Excellent. Absolutely no complaints with the picture on this TV. Colors stand out well and the viewing angle is great.
This TV is an excellent purchase when it is on sale or has special deals attached. Without those deals it seems the price/quality ratio is lessened, and other options may offer better value.

Very nice picture; friends are impressed. Stand is not very rigid but I have a wall mount coming. The delivery people brought it in, set it up and made sure everything worked. I disconnected cable and use an attic mounted antenna to get OTA digital channels (which come in very well) and Netflix streaming via my blue ray player. I'm happy.

VIZIO VX200E 20-Inch ECO 720p LCD HDTV After comparing similiar sized TV's at Best buy, Sam's Club, and Sears, I purchased this TV at sears for 9 last thursday, it was a an internet purchase returned to the store. I like the fact that it was 20 inches not 19, and I liked the Vizio over similar offerings from Samsung, Dynex, Sylvania, and Insignia. I purchased it for use in my home office, would have prefered a black housing instead of white, but that was not a concern. I got it set up and hooked it to my Dish Network DVR via coax cable and the non hd channels look good when setting the tv to the Zoom 1 setting, and watching the Winter Olympics on the local NBC HD channel looks fine, I went on the internet and looked and the recommended viewing distance for a 20" to 5 feet so it looks a little fuzzy closer up as compared to it being in VGA mode for the computer, the other knock on this Tv from what I read was that it has only a 160 degree viewing radius, but since I am will primarilty the only one watching it, was also not a concern. The tricky part was hooking it to my notebook computer, which was the part of the reason for buying it. I used a VGA cable as oppose to HDMI, the native resolution is 1600x900 and windows 7 set it up correctly, but on the TV the computer image was pushed way right, and up. I called tech support and the women was of no use in assisting me in correcting the problem. I moved internet explorer over to the tv screen and after maximizing the window, I then using the TV settings, played with the horizontal alignment, size, and vertical alignment and got it adjusted correctly and it looks just fine. The remote is quite large, but its no bigger than my DVR one so I don't mind. My initial opinion is that its a great tv for the money, so only time will tell on the the durability.

Purchased the Vizio VX200E 20" HDTV last night at Sam's Club for 0. I had been considering a Samsung LN19B360 19" HDTV to replace our older non-HD Samsung 19" LCD on the kitchen counter. The Vizio VX200E caught my eye with a great picture, larger yet still compact size plus a lower price compared to the Samsung... so off I went with the Vizio. I'm connected directly to the cable... no cable box, no outside antenna. When given the "Turn On" command, the set does take a few seconds to "warm up" before switching on, but that's not a show-stopper. After going through the setup procedure, we were pleased to be watching a top-notch picture considering the price. Broadcast channels in HD over the cable look great on this set. Sound quality is satisfactory though a little hot on treble... haven't tried to adjust sound or the picture/ color... default settings are quite good.

I wonder if TV remote design engineers use the products they design?? Seems that none of the TV remotes are flat on the bottom so one can push remote buttons with the unit sitting on the table/ counter without ending up with the remote flipping over.

Overall I am very pleased with this product... after less than 24 hrs of use... it's performance over time will determine my long-term view of quality & reliability.

Sceptre 46" Class 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV - Black (X46BV-1080P) Even in Costco I cannot find any 46" full HDTV for less than $[...]. Mine arrived in 6 days. After buying two HDMI cables, one for my cable box and one for my DVD player, it was ready to play. If you have a home theater system I would assume you already have the optical cable for the DVD player as well. This set is no longer available on Costco online. I did not know anything about Sceptre. I read dozens of the reviews they had. Without the reviews the price made me skeptical about this brand. The reviews were terrific. Since the set is not available there, I came here to Amazon where I've had nothing but great experiences buying stuff. For those like myself, that don't want to waste their time and money on turkeys, I felt an obligation to help, whomever. I love this set. The picture is spectacular. There are lots of adjustments for sound and picture. The PIP is not only sizable in that little extra screen you can move around, it will expand your PIP to approximately 21" side by side with your other picture! Then you can switch the audio. For a sports fanatic like me, well...wow! This set is better, yes better than I expected. For a price so much lower than the Vizio's, Sharp's, Panasonic's, and Sony's, this set is a SLAM DUNK!

I'm back. I've owned this set for 11 months as of this writing. I still love it. FYI: My HD signal is from high speed cable (so I have no opinion on satellite quality). My DVD movies have always played great. My son gave me a blue-ray player for Xmas and the blue-ray picture is as astonishingly sharp as one should expect. I noticed the negative review was not this exact model. Don't understand complaints about contrast or anything else concerning the picture. There are four picture modes, vivid, mild, and standard which are pre-sets with color and contrast etc locked in. The one you'll use 99% of the time is "custom". You can adjust no less than 14 different picture components, from the basics of color, brightness, contrast, hue etc. to fine-tuning adjustments for color temperature (3) and the amount of back-lighting. There is no way you can't adjust this picture to any preference! The only negative (I don't think it's a negative for this price) but the native TV speakers are mediocre at best. I would strongly recommend having your own home theater sound system and this is not even an issue.

Sharp LC-C46700UN Aquos 46-Inch UltraBrilliant LED HDTV Have had this for about a month - wanted to wait to see if there were any downfalls before reporting back. The picture, oh what a picture!!! We found ourselves watching things we don't usually watch just to see the clarity. Golf for instance (I hate golf), it's like standing 15ft behind the golfer with a clean plate of glass between us.
I've seen complaints that it's a 10 second wait after turning it on? Really now, to those people I say "get a life". The fact that it uses something like a 10th of a watt while it's off comforts the inner cheapskate in me.

After combing thru many reviews and asking questions we came to the conclusion that the "full array" LED is what we wanted ... the mirrors and other tricks used to make edge lit screens one half inch thinner were not as important as picture quality. There are no dark spots or shadows with full array, the edge lit TV's can't say that (yet). LED lit screens are actually cool to the touch - I know that heat and electronics don't get along... this has to extend the life of this TV. Sharp gives the LED's a 100,000 hr life - hope you get the one you want cuz that's 45 yrs at 6 hours of viewing time a day!

Movement shows like sports have no ghosting or trails. The remote is a good size meaning not too big and makes sense. The on screen setup menu is intuitive and works well. Bot a second computer on ebay and now have internet in the TV room, streaming netflix, hulu, espn3 and internet radio thru the surround sound system. It is beautiful as a computer screen too. A handheld wireless keyboard/trackball remote takes care of computer duty (Lenovo has one).

We have an antenna, if you cable people want to see true uncompressed 1080 HDTV like it was intended, get a rooftop or attic antenna. Did I mention that antenna reception is not only the best quality... it's free?
My only complaint is related to this antenna service. I would take one star away if any other TV had a better viewers guide (EPG) than this Sharp (they don't). Regardless of price, all HDTV's have a dismal record in this one area. The FCC requires an EPG to be broadcast, seen in all the digital to analog boxes that everyone bot for the digital conversion. Unfortunately they don't require the manufacturer to show it. Could this be a cable company conspiracy? Signed, Elvis.

Mitsubishi LT-46153 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector, Black I bought this set from a local dealer. I've been looking at the new 240Hz sets along with the more common 120Hz. Mitsubishi seems more or less disinterested in the numbers game, as they aren't emphasizing the refresh rate (120Hz), contrast ratio, or other specs that seem to dominate LCD TV marketing. Although the specs can tell you much about a display, the proof is in the actual viewing experience. That's where this model really impressed me.

Using the 'Natural' display preset actually produces a very natural image in color, contrast and brightness. The color balance is excellent. Color gradients are flawless, with no visible banding. The picture is incredibly sharp - given the right source. This set really shows its quality with Blu-ray video; detail is fantastic and motion is smooth with no visible blurring. This is also true of sports broadcasts in HD.

Mitsubishi emphasizes the integrated surround sound system on their web site. It's a nice feature if you don't have a separate surround sound amp. However, if you hope to get the surround effect, take a look at the diagrams in the online version of the owner's manual. (It's more complete than the printed one.) Since my room isn't rectangular, I couldn't really test the 'sound projection' capabilities. You can connect and external sub-woofer too, which I did not attempt.

Connectivity is good, with 4 HDMI inputs, and two component/composite inputs. A USB port is a nice feature, as you can connect a flash drive or other storage device, and play back digital files directly. (I haven't had a chance to test this thoroughly yet.) A digital audio output should come in handy for routing audio back to my surround sound receiver from the antenna input.

The design is understated, with an all black cabinet. The logos aren't huge, and they don't light up or anything. I particularly like the narrow (less than 1") bezel. On the stand, I have just enough room for my center speaker, which is about 4.5" high, to sit in front of the set. I'm still getting accustomed to the glossy screen, and was a bit wary of it before I made my purchase. My viewing room has a large window opposite the TV, and the reflection is a problem. However, the nature of a matte finish screen tends to reduce the sharpness of the image, so I opted for a better picture.

The remote is 'activity based' and capable of controlling other devices through the usual code entry, or via HDMI control of CEC devices. The button array is pretty basic, so you may end up using a different universal remote, or individual remotes. I haven't programmed the included remote, as I use a Logitech Harmony One instead.

This TV doesn't have some of the 'features' other manufacturers are throwing in these days. But honestly, I don't need network connectivity, kid's features or recipes on my TV. The Energy Star rating is another plus, and something that's becoming fairly common. If you're looking for a high-quality LCD TV that you'll enjoy for years, take a look at this unit. I find it to be truly impressive.

I bought this television because of its built in sound system. I am almost deaf. Years of flying super-sonic jet fighters destroyed my hearing and most of my other tvs have the speakers in the back of the set. I had to watch sub-titles to understand the programs. Not anymore, this tv's 16 speakers in front allow me to hear most adequately. The picture is outstanding as well. The only gripe is the remote because it is difficult to read, especially in a dark room.. All in all, a wonderful product.

Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Love it, picture is great. I use this as 3rd computer monitor at work for large group reviews, as well as occasionally a TV. People are blown away by the HD picture from an antenna.
Love it, very happy.
I also purchased the dedicated Samsung hanging hardware looking for a slim look. Paid a fortune but it was supper easy to install. Look on U-tube for a 7 min video which goes through the hanging process, the included instructions are poor. You can thank me later.
One nit picking complaint, I had an outlet installed on wall. The power cord is now way too long and makes the TV stick out from the wall more than it is supposed to.
As to 120 vs. 240 in the store you can see a difference as you can see with edge vs. backlit LED. For my purpose no reason to pay more when this TV rocks.
Only thought, if this was my only TV and I was a super picky person I would splurge for the 240 and backlit. However, I suggest you go to the store and compare them side to side.
Not like the 120 has a bad picture, the Difference is a great vs. a super picture.
Bottom line,
Great TV good buy.

Samsung LN46B630 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color The reviews on Amazon really helped me choose this model. The other 46" model for another 0(better sound and 100,000 contrast instead of 80,000)more sounds great too, but I have separate sound and did not need it. My friend has one of those models, and it does have the best TV sound I've heard, which includes a subwoofer built-in.

I connected the TV HDMI, Windows7 HDMI, Xbox, PS2, a PsP, and they all look super good. Window7 computer I just built primarily using AMz really looks spectacular on the Samsung 46". You can toggle between computer, Xbox, playstations, over-the-air HD antenna, cable HD, and also do picture-in-picture or picture-by-picture for the selected inputs. Watch a movie and play a video game at the same time(multitaskers!). I was using a Dell 24' HD monitor with the manual switching. The only other real TV I've owned was a monster sized Sony 27" Trinitron TV. Here's a shocker, the delivery man was able to carry this by himself to my door!! For a 9 investment, it's fun to join the folks with real movie theater sound AND picture now.

I think everything looks(stylish) and feels great. The LCD picture is the best I've seen. The black levels during the Laker Phoenix game last night were superb. The court was beautifully lit against the dark seating. The action of the game produced NO visible artifacts or blurring. I paid 0 for the previously mentioned Dell(I love it to), but this seems like the deal of the century compared to the Dell.

My last couple of comments, DVDs and games are WOW factor of ten. Gears of War, Half Lives(any), Stalker, Assassins Creed2(free from AMz with Intel i7-860!), Prey, Far Cry, And Tomb Raider: Underworld look like different experiences. Put a regular old DVD on this, and you will want to watch every DVD in your collection over again!! This TV will make your low-def DVDs look nearly hi-def, seriously. This is definitely the best HD computer monitor, HD game display, and HDTV imagineable.

The only real issue I have ever had is the same one everyone seems to have were devices connected via any other method than HDMI suffer from black out in which the TV loses sync for a second or two. It was really bad on the XBox until I switched to an HDMI cable and I havnt suffered this problem since.

Summary:
This is a great TV. Got it at Costco for 1299. So, I think that is the best deal. Was going to choose between W4100 and XF550U, and I am very glad that I went with the XF. My brother in law has the W4100 and I was a little disappointed with the picture, and more so with the picture adjustments. I did like the menu on the W4100 over the XF. But, aside from that the TV is great.

I have the Onkyo SR606 and the controls from either or control each other through the CEC capability. Very nice feature. This TV has all the bells and whistles.

The SD picture quality was better then I expected. The HD picture was absolutely amazing. The 120Hz does seem to jutter a little more then I expected, but most TVs that have that capability still to work on it.

The color is spot on and the blacks are surprisingly good for an LCD. Not as good as a plasma, but very good.

The swivel base is very very cool. It allows me to move the TV away from a window that gives me a lot of glare, and allows me to move it to get the best angle when I am on my other couch. Very very cool.

I purchased the Toshiba 46XF550U from Amazon in late November. The TV arrived in pristine condition in the expected delivery window. For the first week I was waiting for HD to be installed and was forced to watch SD programming. I think that the Toshiba does a very good job handling SD signals and looked great via Direct TV. The picture was very clear and after initial setup looked much, much better than I expected. Even after stretching the screen out using one of the Theater modes.
I had a friend come by with his Xbox360(yeah, I don't have one) and the games were AMAZING! He said numerous times how he was able to see details that he had not seen before. The game intros were incredible as well. Using an Upconverting DVD player I was able to view the TV display in 1080p. Absolutely blows you away! Definitely get the most of standard DVDs.
Once the HD upgrade was complete I realized TV viewing BLISS! The picture is very good right out of the box with very little picture adjustment required. Like most all new TVs there a a few basic tweaks to make, but after that, AHHHHHHHH!!! Watching all of the playoff football this year has been much more enjoyable because of the brilliant picture quality of my new Toshiba LCD HDTV. I can't wait for the Super Bowl!!!!!

Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color Okay, I've only had this TV for about 1-2 weeks so this will be a first impressions review. I'm stepping up from Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV that I purchased 2 years ago, so this is a HUGE difference for me.

Picture: This TV is beautiful. Going from 60 Hz to 240 was a huge jump for me and a lot of my shows just look so much smoother now. You can manually adjust these settings too, although I haven't gotten into that much yet. The contrast is insane and the colors are bright and vibrant. I am still in the process of tweaking the colors to my liking, but I know I'll get it soon. Side note: I usually use the THX optimization for TVs and I tried it with this TV and was not happy at all with the outcome. I felt that the default settings of the TV were much better, aside from being overly bright and contrasty. I'm going to give it another shot soon with a buddy so I have a second opinion.

Sound: The sound is one of the main reasons I'm giving this TV a 4 star. The sound is crap. What you hear is certainly clear and crisp and better then my previous TV... However you don't hear everything. For instance, when I'm playing Call of Duty on this TV, I have to keep the volume around 15 (as opposed to the 25-30 for TV watching). When I'm in the menus of the game, I can BARELY hear anything (from the music to the clicking of the menus), but when I get into the game the gunshots and air support are incredibly loud. Watching a movie I have the same problem. The TV doesn't kick out mids well at all. However I have surround sound speakers coming in next week, so this isn't a big deal to me.

Features: This TV comes packed full of widgets and internet games and weird stuff. I honestly haven't played with them much, but I'm sure some people would enjoy them. Between my phone and my laptop and the program I use to run my HTPC, I've got all my internet features covered tenfold.

Menus: Easy to browse and full of great features. There is a game mode which I've really enjoyed for online gaming. It apparently lower the picture quality some and speeds up the refresh rate... Personally I don't see much of a difference in picture quality, but I definitely notice the better refresh rate.

CONS:
- There is NO picture mode button. This is really bothersome to me since I use a Harmony remote and would like to map a key to swap between picture modes easily for movie watching, gaming, or general TV watching. Every other Samsung TV I've come across has an "e.mode" button and I don't understand why they got rid of it. I even borrowed a friend's remote and every single button on his remote worked perfect with my TV aside from the picture mode button.
- In addition to that, there is NO game mode button. It's not even in the picture mode menu, it's in the setup menu (why? who knows). This is another thing I'd love to map to my remote (although it would be easier to include it in the picture modes of the TV, and then only have 1 item to map to a remote), but no dice. What's annoying is that I read on the [...] description that Game Mode is 1 button away, but yea it's not.
- The sound. I already mentioned about this above.
- The screen is high gloss. This is great for the color of the picture... However it certainly reflects any bit of light onto the TV at night. You definitely need to either watch movies in no light, or position some low lights in a spot where the TV will not reflect them.

So far, this is my review on the TV (I may update later on, if my opinions change). I purchased it open box for a STEAL from Best Buy, so I am very happy with it despite the few cons. I walked out of the store with this TV and a 4 year warranty for a grand total of just over 00, including taxes. I am definitely VERY happy with the purchase. If I bought it for full price, I may have thought twice about some of the cons.

I looked at a LOT of HD TVs before I bought one, and long ago decided I wanted 120Hz because the 60Hz ones were so blurry during motion. I had decided I liked the Samsung ones feature-wise, but didn't at all like the touch of red bezel on the models I liked.
I watched the prices and features of TVs for over a year.
When I saw Amazon's price for this TV, and it had 240Hz, and was touch of grey ... I just couldn't wait any longer.
I bought this TV as my first HD TV to replace an old 32". So I can now watch the digital and HD versions of the network stations I get with my very basic cable.
They look great, but I will say that the sound from the internal speakers isn't great.
Fortunately I always have my TV hooked up to my 5.1 surround stereo for watching movies, so it isn't an issue for me.
It looks awesome watching DVD movies, but today I watched my first blu-ray movie ... and it is so sharp that at times I'm distracted because it is so easy to pickup on details that make you see that the movie is filmed on a set. I guess I'll eventually get used to that.
Another thing I don't like is that the bezel is soft plastic ... my cat likes to chew on things like cardboard boxes, and for some reason he is attracted to the TV, there are now scratches in
the corner.
One last thing that is annoying, I live in a rural area and the power flickers sometimes during wind or storms. I have it on a VERY good surge suppressor, but this TV turns itself on when the power flicks off and on quickly. Not fun to be woken up at night because I was last watching the news (i.e. volume turned up as opposed to 0 volume when watching movie and using stereo).

Sony Bravia KDF-46E3000 46-Inch 1080p 3LCD Rear Projection HDTV I first found this TV at Fry's electronics and immediately was blown away from the sleek design, picture and price. At that point in time it was 00 but further research lead to finding it on here for under 00 and even further research found if I went straight to ABT's site (the sell of the TV) the TV was cheaper. I searched flat panels, DLP's, Plasma's, and this TV came to be the best bang for the buck period.

I say unless you are wanting a TV you can mount on the wall, you won't be disappointed with this thing. The viewing angle is the best I've seen for a projection TV. It gets a little darker when viewing it from the side, but it never seems to loose a lot of brightness at any angle. The TV is every bit as slim if not slimmer than Samsung's Ultra Slim DLP series. The Picture quality is hands down top notch and theres still a lot of tweaking that I need to do and I can achieve even a better picture. I've heard about delays in gaming that make gaming systems unplayable on certain TV's, but this one is not one of those TV's. Right now all I have is a Wii hooked up to it (hopefully a PS3 too within a month or so) and it looks and plays awesome. Hooked up my old HTPC to it and the picture is as clear as a monitor. Setup was very easy, as the TV uses the XMB (Xross media bar) and its designed for easy setup and instant fun straight out of the box. Don't have money for a home theater System yet? Well neither did I, and I can honestly say the speakers on this TV are top notch and unbelievable. Definitely the best set of TV speakers I've ever heard!

If there are any cons I can only think of one and thats that since its a rear projection TV (and not LED based) it uses a projection lamp thats rated for 8000 hours. Now I did the math and that basically means your lamp will most likely last 3-4 years for an average person, or 333 days straight if you just leave it on all the time, but eventually your still going to have to deal with it and its an average of 0 for another lamp. I knew that before I bought the TV so I guess in that aspect its not a con.

The colors just pop and the picture is crystal clear. I hooked it up to a Samsung surround sound system and now it sounds fantastic too. I haven't had any problems with the tv or the other Samsung products I purchased. Easy to hook up and look and sound great! Loved watching the Super Bowl and am looking forward to March Madness!

I had 3 sony's before and all had great pictures and i didn't want risk getting less quality. In came the46 XBR. I bought it as a floor model and saved a ton of money. I hooked it up in 10 minutes. The picture at first was great but it was very dim. I called sony the next day and they said to turn off the light sensor. POW. The picture went from great to incredible. It was bright, sharp, and 3D like. Cable is terific and Blue Ray's are stunning. I put in I Robot and the images looked like I was on the movie set watching it get filmed. The sound is great and sounds like you are in the threatre.

I purchased this tv because of its beautiful color and sharp images. However within a few months the LCD panel went, leaving me with no picture except for broad bands of solid vertical colors. We brought it to a Platinum Sony authorized repair shop and a new panel was inserted. The tv was returned to us in 4 weeks. Now the exact part, the LCD panel, has to be replaced again for the very same problem, only this time it is no longer in warranty. The repair cost to replace the panel for the second time is quoted at ,995 for the actual part and then 5 added on for labor. To get our tv back, the repair costs will be greater than the the total price of what we paid for the actual brand new tv. Sony headquarters will not assist in the cost of the new replacement LCD panel even though the tv panel needs replacement for the second time! We not only still owe 00 on our credit card for the original purchase, we will now have to pay ,395 to repair it while still paying on the original purchase bill. Shame on Sony for not honoring a warranty on the replaced part. Buyers beware!!!!!! It is indeed a beautiful tv but should it break, such as the main LCD panel... watch out. The tv repair will cost more than the actual tv!

Toshiba 46UX600U 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED LCD HDTV with Net TV (Black Gloss) My review is very limited in scope and my direct experience of competitive models is almost nil, but I may have a few observations which someone may well find useful.

I need it as nothing but an HDMI monitor for a computer based media center. As such, it needs to output the digital HDMI video signal and that's about it. No audio - I use a separate receiver/speakers. I just want it to do a good pixel-perfect output with minimal processing.

I'm loving it. Took me a little time to find the settings for making it display pixel-for-pixel output with minimal processing. The "PC" output profile, with contrast down and brightness up a little seems good (not sure why most TV defaults have the contrast overdone by default - looks punchy in the shop display perhaps). Interestingly, on other profiles, if you turn the sharpening below about -25 (range is -50 to +50), it actually actively softens - puts an anti-halo around things. In the PC profile, zero (default) sharpening really is zero.

I was concerned with a side-lit LED display - that it would be unevenly lit, but I've done a number of tests with real and artificial output and the illumination looks completely flat to me. I'm also amazed at the viewing angles. It looks very good from almost everywhere, and the black is very black. It's giving off a lot less heat than my 3.5 year old flouro-lit 32", which is shamed next to this machine.

I'm finding the automatic brightness adjustment to be useless.

My negatives are all pretty much trivial. The remote is programmable, but useless to me as I can't set the volume keys to control my receiver while otherwise controlling the TV :(. The supplied wifi adapter sticks visibly out the side...

It has a nice IR blaster pass-through. Good to have to allow hiding other components. It's kind of wierd to have the TV connected to the net. Not sure how much I'll use all that, especially given that I it connected to a media center anyway.

I haven't had it long, but I'll be back to edit the review, particularly if I find any negatives.

I'm also a shopper and very picky, I've been looking at flat screens for the last 3 years. First I loved the Pioneer elite plasma, but at about 00 was kind of crazy - then looked at Samsung LCD which had a good review, then saw they were coming out with the LED last year, so waited for that, but was disappointed with the reviews - I always did like the plasma better than the LCD, so last year read and re-read about the Panasonic G10, then the G15 reviews, kept wondering and waiting, then to my great delight heard about the 2010 model G25 - this is it! I had a new entertainment center built to fit a 46 inch, then ordered the 46G25 - the entertainment center arrived on Tuesday and on Wednesday I got all my stuff in it and got it ready for the TV, the TV was delivered on Thursday, the Amazon delivery service took the TV out of the box and plugged it in and connected to cable - my niece picked up my old entertainment center right after the TV was delivered and I sat back and had to pinch myself that there it was, the new entertainment center with a beautiful new flat screen - I have basic cable through Time Warner, don't even have the extra box - the TV auto programmed all kinds of channels that I hadn't had before - all the TV channels that are broadcast in HD, like the network channels were set to two channels, for instance I have a 2 and 2-1, 4 and 4-1, 7 and 7-1, etc - the -1 channels are the HD channels, the channels that are not broadcast in HD still look good, but the HD channels are absolutely beautiful - you can set the format - so the channels that are not broadcast in HD I leave at the 4:3 format, otherwise it kind of stretches it out - there are several format and picture mode settings. I also connected to internet and watched UTube videos - but best of all the picture is beautiful - I'm glad I waited - it is perfect and I love it.
Wireless LAN Adapter and connecting to Verizon Fios - Joan B. -
Before purchasing this TV, I noted several negative reviews for same TV but different size re: issues getting LAN adapter to work w/ Verizon FIOS. Called Panasonic before purchase and got someone who was helpful, he searched Verizon site and found there was a fix for it. I didn't understand the info on Verizon site but I bought the TV anyway and decided to deal with it when I got it. After several painful calls to Panasonic (long hold time, not helpful, put on hold, told will call back and didn't), I finally called Verizon. They were wonderful. Took control of my computer and went into wireless router, had to change WEP to WPA2. Then Verizon helped me reset my "work from home" computer (my company has added security software) to make it compatible with WPA2. Verizon was wonderful, I would really hesitate to buy Panasonic again because of their support (or lack of). After all that, Netflix is not available on Viera Cast yet, I emailed Panasonic, they emailed back saying by end of Aug, another reviewer was told Sept? This is why I bought this model! Overall, the quality of picture is very good. But to me service is important, I don't have time to be put on hold for 30-50 minutes and then be told I will be called back within a couple hours and after a day still no call back.

Toshiba REGZA Cinema Series 46XV545U 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV We bought this [46"] TV from a big box store in June. We were looking at plasmas, but the reflection problem was a show-stopper for our family room. The Toshiba has no reflection problem day or night. The picture is beautiful. You'll wonder how you lived with your CRT. No jaggies from the usual sources, though some from some 24p movies. Color balance was perfect on delivery; we haven't played with it. We watch from 10-15 feet away, but the picture is clear and bright from 20 feet. Watching from the side.. 45 degrees, there is no distortion. The images are very good in the daytime and awesome at night with the lights turned down. We ultimately bought the 46" size, but in hindsight, I think the larger version (52"?) would have been better, tho more expensive.

The Toshiba has half a dozen aspect ratio options, all available on the remote. We found to our dismay, that a lot of cable/broadcast TV, while digital, is still in the conventional 4:3 format; essentially a square picture with black bars on the side. Forcing it into a wide screen display distorted the images, so we mostly watch channels that broadcast in HD widescreen.

The multi-function remote is complex, but once you get used to it, the necessary controls are easy to manipulate via an on-screen display. It's also lit, which is very helpful at night, when the lights are off. There is also a limited set of controls on the TV itself in case the remote conks out. We weren't looking for that, but it was nice to find.

It has more connections than you'll likely need including multiple HDMI, component, composite, PC, even a USB slot. We have cable coming into the component (Y, Pb, Pr) connection, DVD/Blu-ray through S-video, and PS3 through conventional composite connections. The Toshiba has its own digital audio out connection (Dolby), but there are lots of ways to hook up an external audio source. It sits pretty low on its own stand, so you don't see the cables coming out of the back.

The Toshiba has its own sort of 3d/stero sound system, so audio sounds like it's coming from the side, even though the speakers are just on the bottom. A nice touch -- hard to appreciate looking at the specs.

Some of the reviews mentioned that the shiny frame was a drawback. We found no problem from the frame. It's pretty narrow, anyway. Reviews also warned that store displays would have the brightness turned up, but we didn't find the image much different when we got it home. The Toshiba name on the bottom is lit, but it dims depending on the light in the room.

It's an excellent unit. It seemed when we were looking, that each brand/model TV had some sort of limitation in one of the specs, usually in the number or type of connections; or it was too expensive. There are no limitations on the Toshiba and it's a great price.

Sony KDL46HX800 46 inch Full HD 240Hz LED 3D HDTV Ok, first of i took a risk on buying one because the bundle was so good an offer from Sony. Though like many i bought a sony bravia 40' 2 years ago, i always wanted to get a big screen to change the 42" westington house i had from 4 years ago. My finance and i went to sony style store just to check it out and it only took us 5 minutes to decide to get one after watching a few things on the screen in 3D. My finance was complaining about my Gizmo habits so i promised her i'm not buying anything but instead she wanted it more than i did.

Now about the TV..WOW the picture quality will blow your mind. Watching 3D with my Comcast HD Box by turn on 3D was more than i expected. Tried a regular blu-ray with 3D and i was like WOW. Played the free games that came with the purchase on PS3, it takes gaming to another level.
The only little problem i noticed is when you turn on the 3D it takes about 10 seconds for your eyes to get adjusted to the 3D. I heard a lot about getting headaches and feeling of throwing up but nothing of that sort happen to me nor my finance who wears glasses.

I know there is a hugh hole in my pocket now but its worth every line of thread it took out. If you had the money, id recommend you get on, if not then wait for the price to come down and you won't regret it.

I have had my 52" for 4 years and am on my 3 bulb @ 0/ea, not to mention the 8 to have a ballast replaced. Our salesman conveniently left out the problems with a DLP. We should have opted for the LCD and I will not be buying another unreliable Toshiba.

For 2008 JVC's line-up of Procision widescreen Full HD 1080p flat panel displays bring a new dimension to home theater with the introduction of JVC's Ultra Slim line of LCD's.
The super-slim design was made possible through the use of a new JVC-developed slim panel backlight unit and power supply substrate, or chassis. The new slim LCD panel backlight unit is 40 percent smaller in depth and bezel width compared to a conventional LCD backlight. JVCs display engineering team succeeded in developing a new, slimmer backlight unit by optimizing the light-diffusing plates and light-reflection sheets, as well as improving their overall composition. This provided uniform light-diffusion at all the corners and edges without the addition of more CCFL tubes, while maintaining adequate luminance to ensure that the screen always remains bright.

This is an excellent TV, the picture quality is extremely good. I was concerned that the 60Hz would be inferior to 240Hz technology; but the picture is perfect, I can't really tell the difference! Do yourself a favor and save some of your hard earned money and buy thus TV instead of much more expensive ones; you'll be happy!

Sharp Aquos LC46D65U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV I wasn't expecting to get a top of the line 1080p TV, and I pretty much got what I expected. The Aquos is very attractive TV- it has a very pleasing high-gloss black finish, a nice stand and a cool, grey speaker grill. The sound on the Aquos is terrible, so I suggest getting your own receiver and speakers (which I had, so I didn't really mind). The picture quality is great, but the other day I noticed some very, very faint banding on the screen. It's hardly noticeable, but if you're like me (you over-inspect everything), then it might start getting annoying. My girlfriend says that she cannot see any banding, so maybe I'm just seeing things. Overall I'm very happy with the TV, considering the price. I picked it up for 0, and after a few months of research, this was the best price/ value I could find for a 46" TV made by a reputable company with decent customer service. If you're looking to buy a quality, cheap 46" TV, then the Aquos might be for you!

We were so happy with this TV, until recently. Just over a year old...and JUST out of warranty...we too have the blinking lights/won't power on issue. We have used this TV maybe five hours a week at most over the last year and are just baffled as to why Sharp, and retailers think this is acceptable and continue to make and sell these. With just a few minutes of online research I have discovered that I am far from alone with this specific issue on the same set. there are complaints going back as far as 2007! We are officially in the market for a new television since we were told it could be anywhere from 0-0 to repair. No thank you. Who will guarantee the same problem won't surface again. Do not buy this or any Sharp product if you are wise.

Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-P46S1 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Pros:
Great feature set and PQ for the price. Fantastic size choice for a 10 foot viewing distance. This may not be as important to others, but this TV runs VERY cool. I bought it for a medium to small bedroom and in the last five years I have used a 32" CRT, a 37" LCD, and lastly a 42" DLP before this. Each of these TV's has made a pretty big difference in how warm the bedroom is in summer. This is the coolest running set I've ever seen or even heard of.
This TV does 'push' green a bit just as others have reported but a couple of ticks of adjustment does the trick for me. As soon as it has been used a month or two I'll run an AVIA calibration on it. I also have a 50" PZ85U Panasonic in the living room. We really love this set!
The speakers are small and down firing but are OK for late night quiet viewing, but most people will bypass these for a surround system. I just purchased a receiver with Audessey sound leveling and the difference is incredible if only just for the pleasure of NOT having my local stations cut in thier advertisers over the network feed and blow my hair back with the volume difference. I can't be the only on that gets annoyed by that. The oversaturation is so bad on some of the local commercials in the DFW area that the stock TV speakers actually had what sounded like cone breakup without being overdriven at all. It's like having some annoying ass in your house, monkeying around with the volume control.

Cons:
None really but could really use a dedicated sleep timer button on the remote. Also, does not help me pick winning lotto numbers.

This is our first plasma, and the picture quality is lovely. We love the colors and picture quality. The only issues we had with our unit was that the TV arrived with a blown speaker on the left side. There was also a small scratch on inner part of the glass. We're going to return this one, but we're looking forward to the next set. We love this TV even with the issues. It will be hard to part with it!

Well, it was a great TV while it lasted. Bought it a shade over two years ago and a couple of days ago the right side of the display started flickering and getting horizontal lines. After checking for interference, even though I had added nothing to my home that would cause it, I jiggled the set a little bit and it went away. I'm now reading that it will get worse, Sony won't help and will be too expensive to repair. I expected that a TV costing 00 would last more than 2 years. I was wrong. No more expensive Sonys for me, Vizio here I come.

LG 46LD550 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV While this is my first HD TV, I have been looking at them for a while. I have had trouble justifying replacing a perfectly good 27" Sony. However, now that the networks are moving actual content into the bars that fall outside the range of what my SD Sony can display, I finally got tired of missing 1/3 of the show and decided it was time to upgrade.

I am a Netflix subscriber, and I have been using PLEX to stream Netflix content onto my TV as well as to stream other video content stored on my Mac to my TV. It works very well, but it is a little kludgey since I still want to be able to use the Mac wile using it to serve Video content to Plex. (The TV acts as a second monitor.)

I was VERY concerned that I could find no reviews about this unit anywhere. It's just that new. I was especially concerned about how well the 'net connectivity worked. So, now that I have one, I thought I would write a review.

It's an LCD HD TV. Picture quality looks fine to me, but standing in the store, they all kind of start to look alike. I'm not a video quality expert, I would say that I could see a slight improvement on the LED TV's over LCD, but I don't think it's drastic enough to warrant 0-00 premium. I was more interested in spending extra to get that Ethernet port on the back.

So, how does it work? In a word: Amazing.

I hooked my HD cable box up and got that working, then I plugged it into my home network. It recognized that I had plugged it in, and it DHCP'ed an address off and connected without any problems. I hit the Netcast button, and got my choice of Yahoo Widgets (There is also a Widgets button on the remote) Netflix, VuDu, YouTube and Picasa. I clicked Netflix, prepared to have to painstakingly enter my Netflix login and password using the arrow keys on the remote and a virtual keyboard. I was pleasantly surprised when it presented a URL for me to go to (on my computer) along with a code to enter. I went there (it was a Netflix URL) on a computer that was already logged into Netflix. I entered the code and BAM! my instant watch queue showed up. You can't browse movies here, just your instant watch queue. Put movies in the queue on your computer, and they show up here. Select a movie and after a few seconds, it just starts playing. You can skip forward and back and it shows the thumbnails very much like it does on the computer. It works great.

The Netflix video quality was good, but VuDu was Spectacular. They call it near BluRay, and considering it is streaming real-time over the Internet, it looks really nice. I have only watched a few short sample clips from New Moon, but it was impressive. You get a free rental to sign up, and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I haven't done Picasa or YouTube yet, but I'm guessing those are just as easy. The TV came with a Windows-only Nero MediaHome Essentials 4. Since I don't have a Windows box, I can't load this. I'm assuming this is what LG expects you to use to access content directly from your PC. I did a little Googling and downloaded a trial of Twonky Media. A cross-platform DLNA server. Loaded it up, set up my directories for my content, hit menu on the remote and chose "My Media" and BAM! again! There were the files on my Mac. I streamed a couple of shows for a few seconds. Fast forward, rewind, it just works. It's amazing. I'm not sure I'm even going to bother hooking my Mac directly to my TV (who am I kidding, of course I will, because I can... but I doubt I'll actually use it much).

Yahoo Widgets work as you would expect. They pop up on the bottom of the screen kind of like the Dock in OS X or Windows 7 and you can scroll through them and select them to have them pop up a window. You can have the window pop up over the picture, or you can have the picture shrink down so you can still see it all. I haven't really played with them that much. There are several widgets to choose from, but my computer is very close to my TV, so I'm not sure how much I will use them on the TV.

Late last year, I got a Droid wireless phone with Internet, now I have a TV that, while it doesn't have a Web Browser (who wants to do that anyway), it DOES have Internet connectivity. I'm pretty sure I want ALL of my future purchases to have Internet Connectivity. (Buying my new Dishwasher may be problematic...)

Sony Bravia W-Series KDL-46W3000 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV I'll describe the TV and the delivery in two separate paragraphs. The rating I have given is for the TV only.

The Sony 46W3000 lives up to every expectation. The colors and resolution are spectacular. I haven't found a flaw of any kind (I used to design television monitors for warbirds). Stated simply its a really nice piece. No buyer regrets whatsoever.

The 'White Glove' delivery was another matter. The delivery company called day before to indicate the set would be delivered between 12-5pm. So as the drill goes you rearrange your life and wait hoping the delivery will be sooner not later. I waited and waited. finally about 4:30p I received a call indicating that the delivery was running late. I had a concert to attend at 7p so the delivery was now becoming awkward. Truck showed up at 6:30p. Driver had a sprained ankle and was on a cane, had no helper. Was barely able to help carry in the set. Had my wife been home alone there would have been no way to bring the set in. A jack strap in the truck used to hold the box in place had cut clear through the cardboard box. Fortunately, no visible damage to the contents. Driver and I unpacked the box and quickly tested the set with a portable dvd player. I thanked the driver and went to the concert. Arrived late got poor seating. From my experience.. Amazon needs to rethink their 'White Glove' Delivery

PS [added 6/09]: In October 08 [six months old] the set failed. It took sony several weeks to get replecement parts. The failure was pretty major with the LCD array being replaced. The set has been working wonderful for about six months since repair.
Worst TV Set I've Ever Owned! - W. H. Kurtz - Georgia
Without a doubt, this Sony KDL46W3000 is the worst TV set I have ever owned. The picture, which I saw demonstrated in several stores on a HD link, is abysmal using any other input but HD. Surely Sony should have realized that only some broadcasts are in HD and most other sources of input are not. They could have compensated for those circumstances instead of letting the buyer suffer from a low quality picture.
The sound is no better. It is muffled and unintelligible in many broadcasts, and the Sound Leveler circuit does not appear to make any difference. I thought I was finally done adjusting the sound level from loud commercials to soft movie scenes, and I expected the TV set to strike some kind of balance. It doesn't.
Conclusion: Don't buy this TV set at any price. I paid 47 and wish I had my money back. Based on reviews I have read of other Sony products (after I bought the TV), they no longer manufacture quality electronics. That's too bad. I've had nothing but good luck with this brand until now.

Samsung LN46B650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color I just had to write a bad review about the same size Sony Bravia and it was pretty painful. I traded it for this knowing it would be better, but not knowing how much better. The picture is just amazing right out of the box, i made a few adjustments with the smoothing, and a few other things just to suit myself. Right away i viewed some trialers, Iron Man 2, Shrek 4, How to Train Your Dragon, and a few other things, and the difference is just like night and day. There is no grainyness to the picture what so ever, the smoothing is flawless and the sound is well, almost TO loud depending on how you fix it up. But hey i'd rather have to much volume than not enough. I got this bad boy on clearance at Best Buy for 1199$, regular price was 1899$, showing its definitely a higher end model TV, even if its not this years model. So stay away from the Sony Bravias and if you try to compare them, don't bother, the Vizios i have seen people have even far surpass the Sony, and even though i'm a huge fan of them i just can't believe how bad the Bravia i purchased was. So stick with Samsung folks, i remember back in about 2007 when the LCDs really started getting big and i saw a Samsung for the first time right next to a few others. I told my wife at the time wow look at the difference in the quality of this compared to the others, she was pretty mistified herself, which was unusual. These Tv's are rated number 1 for a reason, and when you pop it out of the box and feast your eyes on everything from Blu rays to HD tv channels to games, you'll see why they are so. Now lets just hope reliability wise it lasts. Later.:D

Samsung UN46C6800 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Originally I'd purchased the UN46C5000 but returned it due to awful flashlighting across the screen.

The 6800 uses precision dimming of the led's to alleviate this just like their top of the range 8000 and wow does it make a difference. No flashlighting, super deep blacks, and a very sharp stunning picture. Couldn't be happier.

The other great thing about this TV over the 5000 and 6300 is the addition of Samsung apps which lets you stream HD movies from numerous sources (Netflix, Vudu, Hulu etc) amongst other things - works really well and a great addition.

If you don't want 3D then get this, if you do get the 8000 because you will definitely want precision dimming.

Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-46W5100 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV I bought this TV during the Thanksgiving day sale...for a total of 73 including the Blue Ray player, delivery and setup. To this day, I have not seen a better deal on this combo. The delivery and setup was impeccable.

This is my first LCD TV and did a lot of research. Finally, it was between a Samsung and Sony. The two things that tipped in favor of the Sony was the matte finish screen and the sound quality (that I tested at my local Best Buy). We have a very bright living room and the matte finish makes a difference.

I was not too thrilled with the sound. While it was better than the Samsung, at higher volume I could hear the speakers jarring. So, finally I bought a Sony Sound Bar to get around the issue.Sony HTCT100 Sound Bar with Subwoofer - Black

Picture quality is excellent. I wondered if the 46" was going to be too big since my previous TV was a 27"...but it suited our living room perfectly. I love it's looks. However, I do wish it had a swivel stand. It would have made it easier when I had to reach around the back.

I did not have a wired internet connection to test the internet features. Just last week, I hooked up a wireless ethernet bridge Cisco-Linksys WET610N Wireless-N Bridge to finally start using the internet features. I am not too excited about the internet features...it works well, but there's not enough internet content that I like.

Overall, a great TV.

Ok, so I take my time when buying big-ticket items, and I bought my 46W5100 from Amazon on a deal that matched the price point and feature targets I wanted. Even as of today, in April 2010, some six months after my original purchase the deal I got is still a good deal.

First let me say that I love this Sony TV, the KDL46W5100 its a keeper, even though there are some things I don't like, it does "bring it" where it counts.

PROS: Picture quality, connectivity, internet features, they are all there. The built-in Netflix-streaming widget is awesome and I almost use that more than DVD's anymore.

Picture quality is something to behold, especially when watching Blu-Ray content, spectacular, Sony nailed it here. Connectivity, this unit has lots of HDMI jacks, 100Mbit ethernet, digital audio, line-out audio, etc, etc, Sony nailed it here. Internet Widgets, Sony did a good job here but there are some disappointments, the DLNA connectivity is weak, more on this later.

CONS: Speaker Rattle, DLNA connectivity, and some of the user interface is annoying.

Speaker rattle is caused by bass sounds in movies, its probably common to all large HDTV's the solution? Hook your TV to an external amp + speakers. The user interface makes it unnecessarily hard to toggle the TV speakers on or off, no biggie, but annoying.

Toshiba 46RV525U 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV I purchased this set on sale at Sears and they even price matched it to the price that CompUSA was selling it at. I got a great deal on it. I took it home hooked it all up and ran into trouble right away with my HD Cable box. I live in the Tampa, Florida area and have Brighthouse networks cable. They use a Scientific Atlanta Exploreer 8300HDC HD DVR box. I could operate the cable box with the cable company remote with no problem. As soon as I would turn on the Toshiba LCD, the remote would no longer work. Turn the TV off and the remote worked just fine. I went through 3 different cable boxes with Brighthouse networks. I then had a Sears repair tech come out to check the TV and make sure nothing was wrong with it. Upon inspection he decided to call Toshiba directly and see what was going on. Toshiba admitted to having a problem with this model of cable box and they did not know what was causing the interference at this time. Their recommendation was to check with Brighthouse to see if they had a different brand of cable box. If they did not, then they (Toshiba) recommended returning the TV for a brand other than Toshiba.

So Brighthouse did not have a different brand which led to me returning the TV. I did this with great hesitation as the Toshiba had an excellent picture and sound. I really loved the TV and the features it had. I just wish it would have worked with my cable box.

I returned the TV with no problem and purchased a Sharp Aquos LC-46D65U. I set that TV up with no problem and there are no interference issues.

So like I said in the title, awesome TV but can be deadly to your cable box.

VIZIO VO320E 32-Inch ECO 720p LCD HDTV Although this Vizio cannot compete with higher-end HD televisions boasting 120 HZ and 1080p resolution, it was far the best performer in the price range I was considering, although I did shop around to find the best price. I consider this the largest set (32") that can still deliver a crisp LCD picture with 720p/60HZ specs. You won't notice the difference unless you already have a higher end television; even then, most people cannot tell the difference at this size. The picture is bright and sharp, particularly when using the "Vivid" picture setting. Set-up is mostly intuitive, although there was one hiccup, as I'll describe later.

Pros: price/value; crisp, bright picture; good remote; mostly easy set-up; 2 HDMI input connections, plus component, RGB, and RF; 100,000 to 1 contrast ratio; excellent picture with HD, DVD, or Blu-Ray input; you can use the included stand or hang it on the wall; sleek appearance.

Cons: specifications that are becoming outdated; difficult to reach connections in the back of the set (connect everything before you put it in place!)

The only momentary problem I had occurred when the TV wouldn't pick up the cable channels. A quick look at the troubleshooting section of the handbook pointed me toward the manual tuning feature, which took five minutes or so to load all the channels. Because an Amazon reviewer recommended that owner use the retail setting for the best picture (instead of the Energy/ECO setting), I ended up with a picture that displayed Vizio's advertised specs at the bottom. To get rid of the display, I had to select the Home setting -- and I had to search for the channels all over again. (Note: as long as you select "Vivid" as your picture mode, you will get the brightness you saw at the store.) I found that 32" is the perfect size for a bedroom, apartment, or other small to mid-size room.

HD televisions really need an HD source to look their best, so if you only have a regular digital picture, you will see less than sharp edges, although the picture is still fine, especially from a distance. HD signals -- whether from cable or satellite or Blu-Ray -- really show up well on this set and are well worth the extra expense if you can afford it. Because manufacturers are selling fewer and fewer 720p/60 HZ sets, you should look for bargains, as many of these models are being discontinued and therefore discounted.

The unit is excellent except for a superficial flaw with a rationale understood only by an apparently insecure VIZIO. They light up their overly large "VIZIO" logo in the center bottom of the panel and it is very distracting when viewing. The simple solution was to cover it with black electrician tape to match the frame, leaving a bit exposed to check its on\off status. Otherwise: set up was easy, menu is friendly and functional; remote is functional; outlets in the back are well positioned and well marked; general appearance is good; and, importantly, picture quality is good with several viewing choices, depending on what is being watched: (movies, football, standard, games etc..)Summary: a good set and a good value except for the "neon" logo.

The first LT46244 lasted 15 minutes and then died. It was replaced and, four months later, experienced panel separation. Mitsubishi had extended the manufacturer's warranty by a year, but was unable to get replacement panels. As a result, Mitsubishi replaced the defective LT46244 with its new model, the LT46246.

We noticed a significant improvement in the LT46246's color and clarity over the previous model. As we had done previously, we set the color on "bright" since the TV is being used in a brightly light room. Mitsubishi's "normal" setting was more washed out than we liked; however, were we using this set in a more dimly light room that setting would have been satisfactory. In fact, the color is so vivid that we have had two doves, a hummingbird, and a wren fly into the window that is directly opposite the television and 15 feet from it!

I have rated this television as a four star product for several reasons. The LT46244 had a matte screen which produced no glare in a brightly lighted room; the LT46246 screen does have a slight glare problem. However, if the panel is of better quality, I am more than willing to put up with the slight glare. It does not seem that Mitsubishi improved on the sound quality. That is not a major factor for my spouse and I as we are both tone-deaf; audiophiles will probably want to purchase a surround-sound system for better sound quality.

One final note - we did purchase an extended warranty from the local authorized Mitsubishi dealer. After the fiasco with the LT46244, we are taking no chances!

The high-end plasmas were very close, but there was something about the Sharp that set it apart. At home, while viewing satellite HD, old movies, even black & white, seemed like they were live broadcasts. This isn't just my impression, but those of most of my friends that viewed it as well. This set replaces a 4 year old Samsung DLP that should have lasted a lot longer than it did. Audio quality is mediocre, but what can you expect of speakers in a cabinet as narrow as this? A home theater sound system with this TV is a must. I also viewed the 240 Hz version of this set, but couldn't detect enough difference to warrant the extra expense. Bottom line is that this set gives superb video quality for a very reasonable price.

Just bought this tv after much research. Basically it came down to this and the Samsung6300. The picture quality was almost identical to me so what put it over the top was the beautiful design and net streaming features. After a week I must say I am still blown away by the picture. Sound is just o.k. but what do you expect from something under 2" in width.

Samsung UN46C6500 46-Inch 120 Hz 1080p LED HDTV (Black) I do not have a whole lot of experience with HDTV's, so I can only review this TV from a first-timer's perspective. First of all, I love it. It's crazy thin and looks very sexy on my TV stand. However, pretty much anything would have looked better than my old 27" box TV that I upgraded from. I was originally going to go with an LCD, but I could not pass up Amazon's amazing deal they had with this TV, and I wanted to get something I was going to be satisfied with for a long time.

Here's what I like:

-I thought the four-legged stand the TV comes with looked a little iffy in the pictures, but now that I have the TV, I am very satisfied with it. I don't think this TV is going to be tipping over...ever. It seems more stable than the rectangular-bottomed stand my father-in-law's LCD TV came with.

-46" is huge. There's about 8 feet or so between my couch and the TV. However, now that I'm getting used to it (remember, I upgraded from 27"), I think this was the perfect size. I may have been left wanting more if I had gotten smaller. Any bigger and it would have been difficult to watch movies and play FPS's on my 360. My stand is 55" long and the TV fits perfectly on it. There's just the right amount of space on each side of the TV.

-The picture is BEAUTIFUL. The blacks are BLACK. If the TV goes black, I can't tell if it's on or off. I am very impressed with the picture and the amount of detail I'm getting. I have it hooked up to an OLD antenna, and it still picks up channels in HD - and they look great! However, my wife isn't loving the fact that now we can see everyone's sweaty, pimply face. It really is almost like looking through a window. The picture is VERY bright. Cartoons look very cool. The colors pop. I love it.

-Xbox looks awesome. I have it hooked up with HDMI. I can finally read the writing in Mass Effect 2, hurray! No more squinting! Everything is so crisp. I don't know how I played games before on my old TV. I notice so many more details now.

-Blu Ray looks spectacular also. I have watched 300 and The Hangover. Both looked very, very good. I've noticed now when I watch movies, I don't pay as much attention to the story, but rather, pay more attention to all the detail I could never see with my old TV.

-Amazon free delivery was awesome. The delivery guy brought it in and did most of the work unpacking it and putting it on the stand for me. I just helped lift it up. He checked it and made sure there were no issues before he had me sign for it.

And now, the other stuff about the TV:

First of all, TURN OFF THE ECO SENSOR THING. When the room becomes dark it dims itself to a very dark level. It's lame. You don't want that on. I'm glad I can turn it off, so no big complaints.

The screen is pretty glossy and dust likes to attach to it. I need to invest in a electrostatic duster or something. You don't want a window pointing at this in the daytime, or else you'll see some big-time glare. Luckily, I don't so I don't have any issues watching at day or night.

I was unsuccessful connecting to the internet with the Samsung wireless adapter. However, I'm not a huge fan of my internet provider, so I'm not blaming it on the TV yet. I've only tried once. I was able to get the Blu Ray player connected with no issues though. The wireless adapter is kind of fat, so if you are going to mount with that sweet looking low-profile mount, it may not work so well with the adapter attached.

Playing the bright Toy Story 3 game had a lot of choppiness. However, when I turned the game mode on, the choppiness went away for the most part. I did not get any choppiness with Left 4 Dead 2 with the game mode on. I haven't tried with it off yet. I want to though, since I hear game mode can effect the picture quality.

Obviously at the store, on Blu Ray, looked amazing! We mounted on the existing mount and connected to home Theater. We played Mr. Holland Opus from the DVR and looked.... Horrible :). As the other reviewer stated, like a soap opera set. Oh my! Firstly we turned off OPC.... we are very "green" in our lifestyle, but this feature drives us crazy! Makes things dark. Secondly, the faces were getting "distorted".... so we turn off the Film feature... Thirdly we brought the picture size down.... So we survived the first experience.... and related cognitive dissonances! Net, net the TV is very advanced, the light and brightness is amazing, playing HD is incredible. It really looks almost like a 3D experience. We love the design and how it sounds (through a Samsung one-box 7.1 home Stereo, so can't judge the TV sound). The other issue is the regular channels like CNN etc. the captions look fazy and the faces not very clear! Is my perception getting used to HD or just the TV? We would very much appreciate any guidance on adjusting the picture, the reds, the other settings.... seem to be off, but it is very hard to have a standard as it varies on HD, Non HD, by channel etc.

Net, net, while we are not "first movers" we are very happy with this choice and the high end aspects... only if we can adjust it right, the world moves to HD and rose colored glasses... we shall be ok.. Input is appreciated.

Just bought this TV about a week ago. Am still absolutely floored by the picture quality, clarity, and the crisp colors. As written in previous reviews, first thing that needs to be done is TURN THE FILM MODE OFF. First movie we watched was Avatar, and yes, even with Film Mode on, the movie looked jaw-droppingly good. But the longer you sat and watched, the more you realize that Film Mode gives it a "soap opera" look. That's the best I can describe it, you will have to see to understand. My eyes were becoming fatigued because everything was SO crisp and detailed, and so clean, it looked fake. Turning it off alleviated all the problems.
Even in "The Blind Side", I popped film mode back on and couldnt take it for a second. My guess is Film Mode is for upscaling Standard Def DVDs, for with BluRay it is just TOO much.
In terms of overall picture quality, as expected, right out of the box some additional tweaking had to be done. I have everything almost perfect, and again, I couldn't be happier. I did get a great deal on Geek Squad Calibration, and that will take place after 100 hrs get put on the TV. From everything I've heard, for a TV of this quality, professional calibration is worth every penney. Looking forward to it.

The sound on the digital channels is lower than the regular channels. When I turn it up for the digital, it is then too loud for the regular channels. It is something I can put with, but is an annoyance. Don't know if this is true of all of the tv's of this model. Vizio says this is because of our cable system, but my other two LCD's do not have this problem.

Panasonic VIERA G10 Series TC-P46G10 46-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV After viewing several makes and models of televisions at different stores this is one of the best ones I have seen, if not the best. The picture is outstanding. Colors are bright and vivid while the depth of the black level is really good. The contrast, sharpness, and color all seemed perfect right out of the box. The naturally higher refresh rate of the plasma set is an added plus. Being able to go directly to the internet for streaming movies through Amazon.com, viewing weather, stocks, or watching You-Tube is also a nice feature.
After viewing the new LED and LCD pictures, they appeared to be be overly bright and so sharp that the picture on the screen seems to be a series of pasted snapshots. The plasma set is more lifelike with a more three dimensional look. Sound quality is pretty good even when turned up to a loud level. The G-series line of plasmas by Panasonic is noticeably better than the other lines.
The price from Amazon with shipping included was the best price I could find anywhere at the time.
Delivery was quick and handled very well. The deliverymen unboxed the set after it was brought into the house and stayed until it was inspected.
All in all a fantastic plasma picture at a great price.

Panasonic droped the ball.. - V. lamba - San Francisco
There is problem with the black level on G10 and V10 series TV sets from Panasonic. Black level is no where near what they advertise. After only 1000 hrs of running, Black level drops considerably. The worse part is Panasonic knows about this problrm and they have not done anything to correct it. I have all my major electronics(Camcoder, DVD player, etc) from Panasonic, but now I feel this TV was the last thing I'm ever gonna buy from them..
Panasonic... Just own up to your mistakes.

Sony Bravia XBR KDL-46XBR8 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz Triluminos LED LCD HDTV First off, OneCall and Conway delivery were excellent to deal with. As someone stated before in a previous review, I received an email, then a follow-up call after purchasing from Amazon. No problems with shipping either. Now for the TV... Back in December of last year, I had purchased a Vizio (551XVT) from Costco. I had that TV for 3 months, then returned it because it had "shadowing" on the screen. Basically, there was a blemish in the middle of my 55" that I couldn't tolerate since I shelled out 2K. It was a good TV, not great. I then decided to try an LG (55LH90) which was also a good TV, even better than the Vizio. I decided I was going to keep that until I saw this TV drop in price dramatically. Both of the previous Tv's had the local dimming/backlit like this one, but the difference is Sony's red, green and blue bulbs that I think make a difference in picture quality. Everyone's taste is different and people will tell you that their TV rivals anyone else's...blah,blah,blah. I'm not one to go and brag about a purchase, but I will tell you to check this TV out as it is worth the price. It's two years old, but I can tell you it's as good as the LCD's/ Plasmas that are coming out today. I researched mainly LCD's because glare is an issue in my living room. No problem there as this TV has a matte screen. Ironically, I was looking at the new models this year and many of them have the ultra-clear panel, which is glossy. I think the 3-d Tv's are nice, but to me, if I'm going to watch 3-D, it will be in a theater, not in my home. Plus, there isn't much content out right now to justify dropping 3-4k. Once I got this TV hooked up and got the settings to my liking, I was very impressed and happy that I waited. It probably won't be in stores anymore as it is 2 years old. But, see for yourself, read all the other reviews and go to CNet too as they gave this TV a really good score. I am very picky and don't have any quams about returning products if their not up to my standards. I ordered this blindly and would definately recommend it. PS3 and Hi-Def are gorgeous...

-Amazing picture in gaming and 1080p blu-ray quality video
-Matte screen, extremely helpful in preventing glare
-multitude of methods to adjust picture settings, even though the picture looks amazing right out of the box.
-Speakers are adequate
-Price is sweet considering this is still one of the best tv's of all time.
-Get full 18 month warranty
-Motion processing does its job well, and works well in fast action.

Cons
-Menu system has shown its age compared to the newer models, but its a minor issue
-SD, 720p, and 1080i broadcasting can look horrible on this tv, as well as any other lower quality video or gaming, such as the playstation 1 or 2 but thats not the tv's fault. (just thought you should know)
-This tv is pretty thick,and there might be people who don't like that, but it doesn't bother me.
-A lot of useless features that i didn't find useful, such as looking at pictures, and streaming music (but you need an Ethernet cable and modem to be able to do it)

Now the top question you all are thinking.

Is the tv worth the money?, the answer is hell yes. for being 2008 model it is better than any LED tv on the market today.
